Political neutrality is the concept concerning the role of government officials have when discharging their constitutional ethics. They do not perform any political activities. It helps the officials to maintain their image of fairness and impartiality. The political-administration dichotomy called for the elimination of politics in the government administration and leaving politics for the elected government leaders. Depoliticization of the government administration was initiated in the late 19th century and the reason was too much corruption that emerged in Andrew Jackson’s time and flourished during Lincoln and Grant’s Administrations.
